I have a cab-1L remote,
Lionel 6-37146 O Legacy powermaster, and a 180w powerhouse. I bought the adapter to connect to my o-guage fast track. I followed the channel set up directions but I can’t get it to work. Google says I need another component but I can’t find exactly what I need
Please help. The green light blinks rapidly all the time on the power master. I’m not familiar with this stuff
What legacy base do I need? I can’t find a picture of what the setup should look like. I want to operate a #10 west side lumber Shay steam locomotive & tender and a Union Pacific vision big boy #4000. I have a 60ft shelf layout, this is just testing to see if it works
Thank you

I'm no expert by any means on the subject, as I do not own any of these systems (yet)! But doing some quick research, apparently you need a Legacy Cab-2 remote with the 992 command base charger (990 Legacy Command Base Set # 6-14294), along with your Legacy Powermaster and your 180w power source in order to operate Legacy locomotives. Your Cab-1L remote can then be used as an extra engineer throttle with this system, but without the 990 set, it cannot be used solely by itself to run Legacy locomotives.
Come to think of it, I have a Lionel Legacy locomotive that I run with only a CW-40 transformer for power and a Universal Remote for control. Although quite limited in what the Universal Remote offers (namely forward-reverse, bell, horn, front & rear couplers, and crew talk) it does everything I want it to on my switching layout. The Universal Remote will also let you run up to 3 locos at once (controlling each loco separately of course) with the same remote!
In addition, I should be able to also run it with the LionChief App that I have downloaded on my phone, but have not tried as of yet. It would probably allow me to access many more options that my loco is capable of, but that would consist of pushing lots of virtual buttons on the screen, as opposed to simply turning a dial on the remote, which I much prefer to do.
IF your Legacy locos will work with a Lionel Universal Remote (not sure if all of them do), then this would be a very cost-effective way to run them, as opposed to getting a 990 command set. So you may want to check into these options also.
Okay thanks for your help, I’m tired of spending money at this point. The Shay I have was made around 2000 so I’ll go the old tmcc route, I have a cab-1 remote; I’ll buy that base later. All that for one train!
I’ll use the legacy stuff for paper weights
I run the big boy with my LionChief app but it’s annoying that it loses connection beyond about 20ft away. The app doesn’t have all the features. My train is in a big middle school classroom, I don’t want to leave expensive equipment in there. I take my trains home but the track equipment is permanent .
Thanks for your help sir
