Flat front Friday. Was just below half and took 49.75 gallons.

More Flat Front Friday from today at Charlie Comstock's BCSJ open house for the PNR NMRA convention. Crossing the Baynes Valley bridge. Normally, I'd link to his website but it's currently down. There is lots of content on the MRH forum and magazine since he used to be the editor.

This was while i was waiting for the Big Boy to get into a perfect spot in Pittston, Pennsylvania:

While everyone was scrambled by the railroad tracks on the former Lehigh Valley freight bypass in Pittston, i parked my car south in a shopping center and walked the line to just under the steel bridge of the bypass. There was absolutely no one around. What inspired me, was a well known shot of DM&IR "Yellowstone" in Two Harbors, MN. And the prize shot:

Kriegslok, I like the processing, it reminds me of infrared photography from high school photography class. Can you share the photo that was your inspiration?

Mike, too much topography for a traditional prairie, yours is much more interesting.

Red wheels always make me think of an old traditional rat rod.

The angle is a little different, but this is the only location i could think off for similar "climate":

I've collected enough parts to start putting the front of the car back together. Moral of the story, almost to the wear bars is worn out. That and watch out for trees.

Oh, it's FEF for trains? Is this the front? It has the little 'F' at the end of the sill so must be!

I saw a pair of these SD40-2s in Altoona few years ago:

They are pretty much extinct i think, unless there's some stragglers deep in West Virginia coal branches.

Kriegslok, they look good with white highlights! I used to watch trains in Spokane, WA, and saw 3182 enough times that I had photos of both sides. I was fortunate from a modeling standpoint that it was former AGS and not NW since all the NW SD40 have triple clasp Flexicoil trucks, a part not available in the late 1990s when I built the model.
