Wondering if anyone knows where to get some 1/2"-1" foam padding like what comes in some train packages that protects it.
Looking to get some for exactly that purpose. Something i can just cut the shape I need put it in the box and be done.
Thanks Mike
Some camera shops used to have it. I had one computer arrive packed with that type of foam. I had a gun case with that type of foam. Maybe a sporting goods place would have some.
you might also try a craft store or a fabric store.
I've bought it at Joann Fabric. Like many, if I get something packed with it, to the closet it goes.

Walmart has it, look in the fabric & sewing area.
Be careful of the foam you use. Over time, some foam will break down and bits and pieces of it will stick to the paint on your model. I don't know which foams do this. Just be aware that it can happen. You might be able to protect your model using cellophane wrap (like Saran Wrap) between the model and the foam.
The foam inserts used by Con-Cor years ago would disintegrate, leaving a powdery residue on the model that couldn't easily be removed.
Better to be safe than sorry.
Darrell, quiet...for now
Plastic bubble type of wrap will stick to painted surfaces also after time and you end up with it showing up on the paint.
