A heads up to those of you in the UK that the History Channel (and History HD) is beginning to show Extreme Trains, the series that began late last year in the US, here starting at 9.00pm tonight and on History+1 at 10.00pm. I know what I'll be watching on TV tonight!
Give the host Matt a chance... People have been bashing him pretty good in the US... It upsets me to see fellow railfans putting him down! He is a good guy who loves trains... whats wrong with that?
i love the show. and the host i think fits it perfectly. He works on a small railroad and gets the chance to explore the US on the big major railroads for free. Why wouldn't you be excited about that? Plus he's only getting "extreme" cause the producers want him to be that way probably. I'de rather him then some boring, regular, unknowledgeable character doing the show.
The host does come off a little odd at first but, as Steve said, the guy loves trains. They probably couldn't have found a more passionate person to host the show. I really enjoy watching it.
Remember, this program is aimed at non-train enthusiats. He has to explain things to those who have no clue about railroads and what they do. I'm happy to see a program like this aimed at the masses. The host is pretty cool and on par with the guy that does "World's Toughest Fixes". Now, where can I sign up for a job like that??
Well, watched it last night and thought it was fantastic. They started the series with the episode about the Acela which I have been on so really, really enjoyed it! The format here has an English woman doing all the voiceover stuff and the presenter doing his bit. I didn't find him annoying in the least, he just seemed really enthusiastic and I bet any of his detractors would be just as excited if they got a ride in the Acela's cab.
Next week it's coal trains! looking forward to it already!
