I have wounder for years why the Europeans still use the bumper and link on their railroads? Is it kinda like us (U.S.) and our measuring system, just too hard and complicated to change over?

I would have to assume that it would be too hard, complicated and prohibitively
expensive to switch over. But why should they? The system they have has worked for them since the inception so why change.
I understand what you are saying about it working for many of years. I just think that our style couplers would be much safer and save time (dunno about the last point).
you can imagine the difficulty in getting the USA, Canada and Mexico all on the same page, now try to imagine all of Europe and Asia agreeing on something....
