Hi,

I am trying to purchase all cars for the "El Capitan" (1954) consist. It it not easy... And I would like also to paint the interiors and I've been looking for color pictures on that but I just found a couple of good pictures. Do you know of any web or book that could be of any help here? And for the rear lights of the consist, the ones you can find atop the PS-42 Observation Car, could you tell me which colors these lights were, please ? I am from Spain (Europe) and my knowledge about American trains is very limited...

Thanks in advance.

Kind Regards,

Juan.

Get "A Quarter Century of Santa Fe Consists". That should tell you pretty much of what cars were in the 1954 El Capitan. Do your own Google search for Santa Fe interior colors if Clint's posts don't heip you.

Hi Andy,

I have already done a Google search before posting and I've found some of the pages that Clint suggested in his post althought I didn't find many picture in color of the interiors there. Clint's post was very helpul indeed and it contains many very interesting links to other webs I didn't know. And I have also purchased the book he suggested. Thanks a lot again for all the effort you took, Clint !!

And thanks to you also , Andy. I will purchase the book you have suggested also.

You , guys, are awesome...

cajon: Have your checked with Wathlers to find your inforation. I believe they once had the complete train.

Greg

Hi Greg,

Yes. That was the first thing I did. :)
I was able to purchase some of the cars. For the big dome car I'm afraid I will have to use a similar (but non identical) from Walthers. It is an Amtrack big dome car that I will need to repaint and to rearrange the interiors. But that's all I could get because I couldn't find the right one for the "El Capitan" anywhere. I have of course placed a backorder for one in Walthers. So let's see.
The rest of the cars wouldn't be a problem. And I already own the four F7s...

Thanks for your help, Greg.

Best Regards,

Juan.

There's also the ATSF & Santa Fe Yahoo Groups sites that you can ask your questions. They may have gone over to Groups.io by now.
