Rico

BN Modeller
I've noticed that some of us are getting away from using the old standby eBay and heading towards other sites for buying and selling. One site is http://www.ebid.net/ , http://www.trainstotrade.com/ seems to have vanished, and http://www.bidbeaver.ca/ has just started up. I had links to others but lost some of them when I went from Vista back to XP.
Are there other sites you use?
Of course eBay is tried and true as they say, but lately the deals seem far and few between and hobby shop prices prevail.

Rico, I hear you I'm getting ready to jump ship I have been selling on ebay for some time but with all the fees and all the **** going on its time to bail.Ebay will nevre go away but its not the only online auction on the web either.I have signed up here http://hotoz.net/cgi-bin/auction/auction.pl I have worked with Larry for yrs so I have nothing to lose and everything to gain :D

Check out the Yahoo email lists. There's one called HO Yard Sale. I have both sold and bought stuff on that list with good results. If you're in another scale than HO then I am at a loss for ideas.

There is also an N gauge yard sale on yahoo groups as well as Backshop (all gauges).

These two + HOyardsale are the bigest ones. There are also a few other smaller ones.

This is a also a good place to buy and sell. I've never been burned here and it's nice to deal with a fellow forum member.

That's a good point Jim. Although my transaction here are very limited to date, they have been quick, clean, and fair. No complaints from me.

Thanx guys, I'll do some surfing and see what grabs me. Haven't dealt with anyone here yet... c'mon guys, where's all the cascade green goodies? :)

BTW: Jim... you're still fleeing? ;) LOL

Rico, I should probably change the "fleeing" thing since it's been about a year and half I abandoned the other side of the street. Hopefully Al is either in jail or in an insane asylum by now. Wish I had some BN things to sell but I'm in the market for NKP and UP 50's and 60's era stuff if anyone has anything they want to sell. I have a set of N scale NJ International crossing gates I have no use for that I'll also be selling at half price. I suspect there are a lot of us with some thing to seel or some things we're looking for but just don't think to look here. Larry, after seeing your work in HO, I would have been a buyer of you N scale models if I was in N scale.

If its N scale Rico go look at my "white metal kits" thread most of it sold now but I can build in both N scale and HO Jim has a pc of my work :D

ebay is starting to piss me off, well maybe just the buyers. One particular model i've been trying to gobble up lots of was never selling 2 months ago. Same model always being relisted. Now they are constantly going for way more then you can get it at the LHS. Blue box units are going for more then the RTR versions. Its pissing me off. Dummies are going for what RTR would sell for too. grrrrrrr

Steve, have you ever tried http://www.typobuddy.com/? TypoBuddy helps you find misspelled items that will be missed in a normal seach. I've managed to pick up a few bargains when engine was misspelled "engene" and light was spelled "lite".

Steve, I feel your pain. it used to be you couldn't give away Athearn BB SW1000/1500's. Now they sell for more than they originally listed for from Athearn.

Hello there
new guy around- thought say hi :)

anyway as for our topic... i think i'll stick with ebay and the reason is that: the wide selection, i mean about 90% of what im looking for i can find it there sooner or later. so thats good enough for me :)
