Hey guys,

I'm in the early building stages of my new layout, based on the Central Illinois Railroad's Lumber District Branchline here in Chicago. They keep their engines outside locked up inside of a 2 track compound. During the winter months, they have Hot Start equipment on their engines to keep them warm, so that they don't have to idle through the night and whatnot. This externally exists as a few pumps and circuit boxes. Has anyone ever modeled something like this? All the stuff to the left of the barrels.

I haven't seen it done before but it actually doesn't look that hard. I's have to see more detail to be sure but it looks like a big electrical panel and some cables, mounted on some angle iron. I'm assuming this acts kind of like a block heater on a car engine. Some sheet styrene cut and glued together would hanfle the electrical box, Plastistruct has angle irons, and some #18 wire would do for the cables. Probably other small details too but the picture's not a good enough close up to tell. Nice paint scheme on that switcher. :)
