diameter of typical harbor pilings


ymmv I would decide how it looks to me visually. Have not worked in 1/87th in decades. I'm no expert so I'd decide what prototype are you following... Example: I'm thinking for my use on a small wharf/dock on a small river for "backwoods" flavor. Pilings can go larger or be doubled or both on coastal docks or in harbors. Are you thinking ore barges or other bulk transport?
 
I do hAve some 90 foot barges. As long 1/8” piles don’t look cartoonish, I’m fine. I’m modeling a once robust Harbor that is less profitable now. With the depression and WW II in the rear view mirror, the town is trying to find its way again to profitability in the post-war rising economy. Btw, this is my first layout, started at age 70.
