I must had pre-ordered this engine from Atlas quite a while ago and just received it. I have already converted my layout from DC to DCC. For some reason this locomotive doesn't move when using channel 3 which I thought was the Digitrax channel value for DC. I have several old DC locomotives that run just fine when using channel 3.
Supposedly the Master Silver locomotives have some sort of a 8 pin plug that can accept decoders using that interface. Does anyone know or have added a decoder for this particular new release yet?
Appreciate any knowledge one may want to share,
Jim

Welcome.
FYI, there never was any such thing as an SW2. If you are referring to an Alco S2, it is a board replacement decoder, unless it's so new that Atlas' website hasn't been updated yet.
A locomotive without a decoder will not function in any way on any DCC system I am aware of using address 3, which is the default address of decoder-equipped locomotives. IF you have a Digitrax command system, you can operate one locomotive using address 0.
bnsf971,
thanks for the reply. You are correct, it is an Also S2 N Scale Master Silver locomotive that I'm hoping someone can tell me which ESU LocSound Decoder can be used that it would end up as a plug and run operation.. Atlas website indicates the following:
- Atlas Master® Gold version features ESU LokSound Decoder
I tried address 0 and the locomotive did move.
