Decals

Nope. My record is about 15 years. Microscale decals held up well. I’d be interested to see how 40 year old decals work though.

I have read that if you apply a couple of light coats of clear paint they can sometimes be salvaged.

I definitely agree with the 40-year-old Champs. I'm still using some I purchased in the late '70's and they work as well as the day I purchased them. And I will say that some of my old Walthers went through a flood, and after drying off they were still serviceable, although a bit shrivelled! But they flattened out on the model, after some Solvaset. You can't kill a good decal (but you can sure screw them up putting them on!).

Well I ordered what I wanted from the USA, & afterwards wondered if I am getting really old stock or newer pressed? Guess I'll find out when arrive.
I may have mistakenly assumed they would be new stock
