I have a athearn genesis NS SD60M dcc and Also a kato NS c44-9w both are dcc equipped with a plug. I want to upgrade to sound in both with out soddering. Do i get a DCC and sound decoder in one?or just a sound decoder? Also any recomendations on what manufacturer?

You will need a sound and motor decoder. Made sure you are getting sound with motor control.
Some come with a speaker and some without. If you don't want to solder then make sure you get one with a speaker wired in. The advantage of installing your own speaker is that you can get the biggest speaker you can fit in your loco. The bigger the speaker the better. And you also can select a bass speaker, if it will fit. They sound soooo much better! Especially in high horse power locos like your SD60.

Why do you not want to solder? Is it because you never tried...or that you don't have the equipment? Solding can be learned quickly and it is very easy. Just have to learn a few things first, that's all. I would be glad to help.

You will still want a sound and motor decoder. Soundtraxx just released one that is for the Athearn Genesis. I installed one in my SD60 the other day. Here's pics:
1. New Sountrax sitting next to existing MRC still installed.

2. New Unit installed

3. Close up of new unit installed. Notice that Athearn uses push on plugs to crimp the wire so solder isn't needed. I still wound up soldering a couple of connections since I was short a few crimps.
