Hello. I have some weird problem when I hooked up an NCE decoder to a new Athearn HO GP38-2. In one direction, it worked as normal. But when thrown in reverse, the engine would run at full speed even when the power pack was set to zero. :confused:

Does anyone have a webpage on instructions on how to solder a decoder to a GP38-2 or even a GP40-2?

I don't know of a web page for that model in particular but I would give the folks at Tony's Train Exchange a call. They will walk you through the installation and let you know what you did wrong. They are really good guys and will help you even if you didn't buy it from them. Sounds like you've just got a wire on backwards somewhere.
