I know just having a motorcar on the layout somewhere is not to common, but have any of you ever thought of or have installed a DCC decoder in one? Im thinking it could be powered with Z scale components and an N scale decoder may fit. Whats your opinions?
In the last video, you might notice that without a differential, the truck tends to want to go straight regardless of how hard the front wheels are turned.
I had two of those Jeep "Woody" track inspection cars that ran on DC, but there was no room for a decoder.. The motor took up just about all the interior space ...
A larger vehicle may give more room inside ?
This lil guy is DCC, BLI made and I think it was less than a hundred bucks! Runs great and looks cool doing it! My wife "claimed" it when it hit the layout, it's "her" car now!
I installed DCC / sound with a stay alive capacitor AND front and rear lights in a Ford high rail truck ! It's do-able depending on the vehicle you are working with.
I got mine from Joe at Factory Direct Trains, great guy, excellent customer service! This truck is a Bachman, also DC/DCC. The crane moves and it has lights.

This is great. So many cool ideas of what can be done Coke to mind.
Can you get the stearing parts. What about the remote control and receivers. Where do these come from.
