Creating a battery power source for layout

I have a small extension to my layout that has a series of skyscrapers on it. I want to bring some electricity to the buildings but the layout is to far from electric outlet. I want to create a battery powered power source. Can anyone offer me advice on this project or where I can find such a instrument. TIA.

Get yourself a small circuit board like the one shown in the photo from 'WeHonest' on the bay. You could mount that under the table and supply it with a rechargeable 12 volt DC battery.
You'd also have to grab a connector to fit into the input socket of the board. That's just a 12vdc male plug socket that comes off the battery.
The board is equipped with multiple terminal positions from which you can run wire to individual lights.

That's one solution.

What kind of lights are you using? Incandescent or LED's? If you use incandescent 12-14v bulbs, you can just use a 9v battery or two 4-cell AA holders wired in series. With LED's you need to know what voltage they are and adjust the batteries accordingly.
