With the alligators we have down here that cat would have been a quick snack.

The part near the ending was really odd--2 alligators and the second one did not even enter into the picture----chicken wusses:rolleyes::D

Good Morning!

We are cold and wet today--showers all day then windy as wel---p to 50 mph is expected:rolleyes: The high will be only 47F today too---

Anyhoooo--I've got an appointment today for w**k to attend to--then tomorrow I'll be having appointment with the arrythmia specialist--so next couple of days are going to be busy---yay.

Maybe on Friday I might get a chance to get something done with the layout--that is, if a honey do list does not show up:rolleyes:

Anyways--you all have a nice day:D

Good morning eveyone.

I'm taking the day off to do whatever I want!:D I finished painting my building kits and am now watching dull cote dry. It's quite similar to watching paint dry, only it smells bad.:) I decided to coat them before I weather this time so the actual paint finish is protected from whatever amateurish weathering I attempt.

I'm also patiently awaiting my purchase from eBay. Damn, some people take forever to ship! I inherited my father in law's Lionel set from his childhood. Some pieces are missing so I bought another set on eBay to mix the two together. The hope is to run it under the train room/second living room tree. The other real tree gets a G scale, Christmas themed train. I felt that the train room should have an old Lionel whipping around a mach 1 speeds! I'm way too young to have had a Lionel in my youth, but I'm willing to relive someone else's childhood if I have to! :D Let's hope it shows up today.

I think I'll go check the drying progress.

Have a great day everyone.

Still got my Lionel, Ho scale that is! (from 1964:eek:)
Swapped out the rubber band power chassis a few years back with Walthers FA1 Chassis,,,,,,,worked like a charm! :D

The dang thing didn't show up today. I guess it passed through Minneapolis yesterday so I should get it tomorrow. I'm hoping to get it before Thanksgiving so I can tune it up if it's needed. Then it will be ready to run under the tree once we cut it down. I'm thinking the HO layout will be forgotten by my nieces and nephews with the G scale and O scale trains to play with. That's fine by me!:D

It will first have to travel through Chino CA THEN go through Macon GA THEN through Yellowknife NWT to get to where you are:rolleyes::eek::D:D

Good Morning:D

Welp, I'm all ready for the 9am appointment with the heart specialist about the ICD---this oughta be fun:rolleyes::cool:

After I find out WHEN that will be done I'm going to go check out the new LHS that apparently cropped up near the doctors office:D:D

Have a good day peoples!!:D:D

Good Morning/Afternoon to all,

Nothing much new to report from here in Calif, it's just a beautiful sunny day and not too cool.

HUMM!
Everyone must be out chasing wild turkeys for dinner next week.

Personally, I'm going to have a little WILD TURKEY to fight the cold germs off.

Ha Ha! It's here and......... It's aliiiiive!!!!

If you can't tell, I received my Lionel train in the mail tonight.
She sparks a little, but runs like a champ after a little lube job. Now I need to get to work cleaning more track so I'm ready to circle the tree endlessly! I now have a loud, smelly Lionel to call my own.:)

Got a mth sd70m-2 today, nice engine but it does run a bit jerkish thought. got the latest digitrax soundbug in it. Im hooked... the sound is so nice and powerfull ! now soundtraxx and qsi have a dangerous competitor that sells sounds decoder for half the price !

Cheaper? In the short run, maybe. Yes, the Soundbug itself lists for $49.95but you still need a compatible decoder to plug it into. That will run you another $29.95. Yes, thats only $79.90 so on the surface it's cheaper. However to get an accurate sound files loaded (remember, you are only getting a generic sound with the Soundbug) you need a PR2 or PR3 programmer. There goes another 100 bucks!
IF you are only doing a few engines, it's not worth it. However, If you are planning on accurately programming a fleet of 20 or more engines, you can then amortize the expense of the PR2 over a fleet and your price break per engine drops to a cost below the competition.
Frankly myself, I'd rather load a Soundtraxx decoder in an engine, sit back and let it go. It will be right, and I won't have to research prime mover sounds to be sure it's corect.

The two sound files in the Soundbug are a generic steam and a GP38-2. If you want a 710 turbo, such as actually is in the SD70, you'll have to buy the programmer. I did this research when I got a stealth BLI C30-7, and wanted to put sound in it.

Could someone point me to a site that has the definitions of different locos? Like what a GP7 looks like and the differences between a gp7 and a GP9 etc? All the names and numbers confuse me. I just use whatever catches my eye for motive power. I've got 4 locos that I use. I have a couple that have 2 axles per truck and is boxy looking. I have one that has 3 axles per truck and is boxy looking, and then I have one that has 3 axles per truck that is very streamlined. What else do I need to know to identify which is which? Thanks in advance!
