Good morning gents. Roll tide. Been awhile since I darkened the doorway of this place, I realize - but I've been mighty busy ever since the Nov 19 op session, trying to install as many of the recommended 'fixes' as I possibly can. I spent whatever free time I could find last weekend (Nov 22-23) installing a new drill track for my yard. Then on Black Friday, while the rest of the world was fighting traffic at the shopping malls, I repositioned the lead track to my staging yard so trains can reach the passing siding directly from staging. And Saturday after I finished my honey-dues, I enlarged the shelf that my staging yard sits upon, and installed a staging terminal for the locos that would be assigned to pull the trains out of/into the staging yard. Today I'll relax and simply run a few trains!

Chris - a belated congrats to you and the missus on your 13th. Good to know there are still people out there who take the marriage commitment seriously. More than half my sibs were divorced after 6-7 years :(

Rex - I guess trains must be the furthest thing from your mind at a time like this. Think the Tide will do as well against the gators as they did against Auburn yesterday?

Jim - I guess Diana's only dissappointment Saturday was not finding any Auburn fans to eat for lunch :D Good to hear you guys are finally getting a bit of rain.

Morning all!

Got some snow last night. Good thing I got the really nasty deck work done out back yesterday. I heard this was on the way, so my son and I busted it out until late last night.

So whats up with all of you?

Chris did you say the c word, it's still November,,, only just. Sun's gone down and the frost is back, not going out watching trains tonight, no chance.

didn't the fiero's engines have over heat problems due to not enough air? sweet collectors car though! I like the trans-am War Bird though......

Now you can understand why all my rework. It only takes one OP session to find the shortcomings of our layouts, but ain't it fun ;):).

Actually, trains are saving me from a nervous breakdown from all the excitement and anticipation. Being honest, Bama has the talent and will have to play their very best to beat Florida; we can do it. We have been here before and beat them when they were hot with Tebo.

Mark: Love the Pontiac's! I wish my 1966 GTO's engine was in our present 2001 Bonne SSEi.:D

LOL! 1966 GTO - niiiice!

Actually I had been looking at doing a 3800SC swap into whatever Fiero I got, but this one's gonna stay pretty original. The L4 actually moves the car pretty good, plus the sound alone is to die for! Mid engine cars are awesome!

Mark. looks like a great car to attract the cops and pile up the speeding tickets. I had a 1965 Goat with trips, a 389, and a Hurst shifter. Except of the fact the engine topped out at about 6900 RPM's, it would suck the doors off just about anything on the road. I still miss the sound of that thing idling in the driveway. I got a few tickets in that thing too. :)

Chris, sounds like you have to return to normal married life and kids - but it must have been fun while it lasted. :) That hydraulic sawzall was part of our Hurst tool kit. We normally used it to cut burglars out of the ceiling that had been trapped but we did use it a few times for people with medical problems that were too big to get out of the attic entrance. We'd cut a hole for one of our guys to look through and he's guide the guys with the sawzall. It could take down an entire ceiling in an 8x10 room in about 20 minutes. I often wished I still had one for some layout work but, at about $7,000 a pop not counting the compressor, it's a little out of my price range.

Hi, Ken, nice to see you. Having an ops session is a nerve wracking experience. We'd have them for other clubs when I lived in LA and our club layout was 40'x60' so there was always something going wrong. We always had three or four guys assigned to ROW work trying to stay ahead of the problems before the trains got there. Luckily, my dinky layout will only run two trains so ops are easy for me.

Phillip, no snow down here although it looks like Birmingham north could see a few flurries tonight and Monday. Winter has arrived in the Southland.

For some reason, all the cars with Auburn flags seem to have quietly removed them last night. Suddenly, new Alabama flags seem to be showing though. I guess everyone loves a winner.

I still have some kind of low level bug with headaches, chills, and coughing. I stayed in bed this morning and missed church but we have another service tonight that will involve other churches in the area so I guess I should get a little more rest so I'll be up for an hour of hymn singing. I'd rather work on my traffic signals but God would probably rather have me in church. Most of the rain has moved out of the area and the cold air is moving in. We had almost two inches and nothing severe, a real blessing. My lawn is actually squishy for the first time in many months.

Actually it's kinda the opposite. I like going fast like most guys, but the thought of insurance increases and speeding tickets actually is one heck of an incentive to keep the accelerator under control! Grandmothers regularily pass me on the highway in Corollas.

Plus the 4.11 final drive in that car makes it feel like you're goin a lot faster than you are - at 100kph, the engine's turning 3500RPM!! This car won't be going to Bonneville soon, that's for sure. :)

Good morning.

It's 39 and clear. The high will be in the high 50's and it will be partly cloudy.

My two Atlas GP40's are pulling a 23 car train around the layout this morning and aren't having a bit of trouble, and these are weighted cars too so it's no lightweight. The train is around 16 feet long. The BNSF SD40 is pulling a 19 car train around the inner loop. I don't expect to get much done on the layout today. I have to go see my PCP to get a referral to continue seeing the foot specialist whom I have to go see this afternoon. I also have to get refills on some of my prescriptions, including my insulin. What a joy that's gonna be. I planted 15 trees last night then hit the sack early. I was worn out. I planted 3 elms, 6 conifers and 6 cedars. I'll say one thing for Bachmann, their Scene Scape trees look pretty good but they are pricey, $10 for a box of 6, 3 in the case of the elms.

Good morning folks

It was a brisk 46 F this morning. High today will be 51 F.

It felt cold as I had to walk from the auto repair shop this morning. The brake light on the van started coming on every once in a while in the van. On a couple of occasions I thought I heard some grinding in the rear brakes. So I dropped it off this morning and took the wife’s Tracker to work.

I hope everyone’s Thanksgiving was good. Despite battling colds and cough ours went off pretty good. The turkey was cooked correctly and the other vittles came out perfect. This was the first Thanksgiving with our new ovens. In the past with the old ovens we used to get half done turkeys. Nothing like one side cooked, almost burnt and the other still pink. We didn’t make into the Philadelphia Thanksgiving Day parade to march with the Scouts. I did see several of our pack members on TV marching.

We did a little shopping. We avoided the early morning crowds. We also started the decorating. Our decorating usually takes about a week to finish. We did the outside lights Saturday before it started to rain. I still have the window candles to put in and rooms to decorate.

No trains this weekend. I am holding out for some modeling before Christmas.

I hope everybody has a good day.

Man! What a BUSY MORNING!

That 4 day weekend blew past, and now this morning is almost gone! Where's the time going?

So check this out.........

Saturday was halfway decent, so I rode my motorcycle up to the local shop to have them look at a couple of things. While I'm hanging around, some guy who works there comes up and asks me if I'd like to win a $200 gift certificate. I said sure, what do I have to do? I'm thinking I'll have to fill out a little card with my email address or something so they can spam me to death, right? No.........He says, "You register your bike and mileage with us at the beginning of the winter (now remember, I live in Indiana) and then at the end of the winter we see who rode the most miles over the winter and the winner gets the gift certificate." So I look at him a second or two, and then I asked him, "That's not a contest you really want to win, is it?" I'm thinkin', if you win that contest, are you really a winner.....REALLY?

Mark, GREAT little toy! Always loved those little things. We've got a few of the Indy ones still floating around, but then, I live just outside Indianapolis, so we probably had more then anyone else to start with, huh?

Afternoon all

Boy it was cold today, started off with -9 on the clock, got to work and the heating was dead, felt like working in a cold store today.
Then called round at my old friends home with a CD of pictures and video from his funeral, his wife is putting then onto an online book of remembrance for Brian which will be cool.
