Yes, I wasted my time taking economics too. Nothing happening today makes any sense compared to what I learned. It's hard to imagine the market going up 221 points on the day GM files bankruptcy. I'll make a prediction now. Obama has gotten himself into quicksand with GM and Chrysler. They will both have to produce what the goernment wants, not what the market wants. Neither company can make money until they start selling cars. Until (and if) that happens, the government will have to keep pouring more money in to keep them afloat. At some point, this quicksand will swallow Obama whole.

On the high point FORD will clean up the floor with Government Motor Company! I love Chevy, but it looks like my HD2500 and Malibu will be the last chevys I'll ever buy!:( The government can barely run it's self let alone a Auto company:confused: China is real scared right now! If we go down we'll take half the world with us! O'well, time to go out and start buying guns and ammo!:D:p:):D

Evening everyone,

I have to make this quick before I get nailed with one of Chris's missiles.

Jeff - sorry to hear that about your Mom! I'll be sure to include her in my prayer intentions.

Dan, I feel yer pain. Summer is always like a mixed blessing for me. I don't have to take my kids to/from school; but I also have grass that grows like a tumor, and a large above-ground swimming pool to maintain. Sorta eats into my free time.

Jim, I took 4 ECON courses in college, they were all required for my major. I aced each of them, but danged if I can remember any of that stuff today...:D

BOC
, I remember putting metal wheels on my rolling stock 3 summers ago. A PITA while I was doing it, but it sure has made a world of difference as far as keeping my track clean.

Sounds like a course I took in Nursing School. It was Psych and the only thing I can remember from it, was that the Chief Psychiatrist at one of the Psych hospitals told us that there are two types of people in the world. Those that have been treated for mental illness and those that haven't.;)

As for putting metal wheels on cars, I still have 25 cards of 33" P2K wheels left to put on about 30 cars. Counting the ones that I'll drop and the ones that take flight and never land back on this earth, I figure that I have about 1/2 of what I need!

I've got some good news! The neurologist says my mother didn't have a stroke. Apparently she had fallen and hit her head hard enough to cause a brain bleed. At this point we're cautiously optimistic. They say she should make a complete recovery but at her age there's always that chance things could go south. They'll be observing her for a while to see what happens. My sister and father are on their way home.

Evening, everyone.

Jeffrey, a concussion and brain bleed are much better than a stroke. As long as the brain bleed resolves itself, she should be fine. I'll keep her in my prayers.
Chris, Ford will do fine until Obama pushes them into bankruptcy also. He'll use emission standards and fuel economy requirements to make that happen. By 2013, every vehicle made here has to average 35.5 mpg. Think they'll be able to make an F150 do that? Obama will make the tax on "gas guzzlers" so high that it will kill Ford. The only way for his plan to succeed is to take control of Ford as well because then we'll have to buy egg cars whether we like it or not.

BOC, I was really surprised to see how much money the Canadian government kicked in for the GM debacle. I wonder if your PM really thinks any GM cars will ever be produced in Canada again? I can assure you that the UAW will got ape sh*t if one Canadian plant is reopened before all the US plants are reopened.

Ken, not remembering anything about your economics courses frees up space in your brain something useful. :) Trying to apply anything you did learn today is just an exercise in frustration anyway.

CJ, when I took my psych courses, I was told that there were two rules. The first is that there are two types of people, the ones who had been treated for some psychiatric problem and the ones who hadn't...yet. The second rule is that you can tell the difference between staff and patients at a psych hospital because the staff has keys. :D

It's a clear and warm night in the Heart of Dixie. It's still 75 after a high of 97. I can only hope we get a southerly flow so we get some more clouds and the chance of some rain. We had some pretty good buildups today but the atmosphere is too dry to support anything other than clouds right now. Hurricane season officially started today so those of us in the South now keep an anxious eye on the tropics. All is quiet so far.

We got NO keys while in the hospital, so we had to wear our student uniforms in the locked wards, to let the staff would know who we were. Trouble was, the male student uniforms we had, made us look like barbers, and several times a day pts would come to one of us asking for haircuts.
I did get one pt to talk to me who hadn't said a word in 10 years according to the staff. All he said was,"Bread's bread, and Jesus Christ's a football. Ain't that right!" Somehow, at the time due to what we went thru during the course, I thought I understood it! Talk about surreal!:p

Jeff, my prayers for your mom! She sounded like a real nice lady the time I talked with her. I hope and pray she makes a full recovery.

Good morning folks

It was 65 F as I cruised along the highways this morning. Our high will be XX F with the possibility of thunderstorms. As a matter of fact it looks like one is building over Valley Forge right now.

Yesterday was one of those days where I needed to be in three places at once. I got stuck in a late running meeting yesterday afternoon. My wife called to tell me she was stuck in traffic in Wilmington and would not get in home in time to take her father to the doctor’s. So I had to leave the meeting run home and pick him up and take him to the doctor. Then I had to rush home and take my daughter to her flute lesson which is halfway across the county. When she was done we had to rush back and get my FIL at the doctor’s office. We get home and find my wife home exhausted and in pain. She took a fall at work at banged up her knee. It was black and blue with some nasty looking scraps. I then had to take my son to Boy Scouts. Needless to say no modeling last night.

My wife is at a camp in Maryland on the east shore of the Chesapeake Bay for training today. It is about a two hour drive one way. She will be home late. Luckily the only thing happening is my daughter has a softball game.

Jeffery, we are hoping your mother makes a speedy and full recovery.

I hope everybody has a good day.
