Craftsman at heart
A scene from my layout. For now all I can do is tight closeup scenes. My layout is narrow (9 to 12 iches wide) and I need to get a camera with a not so wide angle lens with a high Fstop of at least 32 so I can get a better depth of view.

Are you shooting film or digital, hard to tell from your black and white photo? You probably don't need f/32, and not many lenses will stop down that far, only dedicated macro ones. And of course you'd need a DSLR to have lenses to stop down to even f/22, which is enough for most photos. If using a digital point and shoot, the best most of them can do is f/8, which actually does a pretty good job with the smaller sensor.

And wide angle lenses, or the wide setting on a lens gives you the most depth of field. As you zoom out, the depth decreases.

Good luck!

Thanks for the info.
I'm currently using a digital point and shoot at f/8. Now if I can discipline myself to put off my spending at the hobby shop, I'll buy a DSLR.
Cheers! and I'll visit your photo website.

Nice Caboose. Not too many of the CNR ones out there. I am working on a CNR brass O scale caboose, more of a winter project though. Here's what I start out with.

Oh, and I like my Pentax K100D as well!

Thanks.
I look forward to seeing how your project progresses. Quite a talent being able to work with brass.
Here is a picture of the only brass caboose I own before I weathered it. All my other cabooses are made by Trueline Trains.
Thanks for sharing your photo.
Cheers.
