Hey guys.
I trying to find some plans to scratchbuild a city viaduct, like the "EL's" that runs in big cities.
I know you can buy kit, but they are costly, besides, scratchbuilding is so rewarding.
I running HO. Any help?
wouldn't the kits from micro engineering or imagine that laser art be cheaper in the long run? But if you want to go the scratchbuilt route, maybe the library of congress has some blue prints for nyc or chicago's el?
I didn't find any blueprints when designing mine (still not built) but there are a few drawings on the internet that showed basic construction. Much of Chicago is open lattice metal work where NYC used solid girder construstion (generally). I can tell you the Chicago having been added to, rebuilt, redesigned for over a hundred years, there is alot of different types of construction. If you're building a fictional line you could mix and match to make it appear to have an equally long history.
