Well I bought the latex paint and I didn't see any primer, so I was wondering is there any cheap primer. I have a little PolyScale primer left over yet but not enought to do a whole engine. Anyone got some good advice on this.

I buy the cheapest sandable auto primer I can find from WallyWorld or other el-cheapo big box. I used this stuff when painting 1/285 scale micro armor, so it'll work with 1/87 HO stuff!
Like anything else, the key is to not load the item down with a thick coat. A bunch of thin coats (if that) is all that's necessary.
