I found this pic of
BC Rail C44-9W
, with slanted EMD SD70 style windows.
Was this just a Canadian only style wide cab or did GE use this style on American locomotives?
Athearn has a
BC Rail C44-9Wbut has normal rectangular windows. Does anybody make this wide cab style in HO?
Jerry
no one makes the CN style cab from the factory Cannon Company makes the right cab to replace the Athearn and Kato cabs with the CN style
I think Kaslo Shops came out with one, can't get on their site right now tho.

Cannon & Co. only makes the "Spartan" style of EMD cabs, for the 35-line and Dash-2 series. They have never made safety cabs, Canadian or otherwise.
Kaslo is the only company currently to make those cabs. They make the two window tear drop style used by BC Rail and CN, as wells as the 4 window style.
Also, the cab is no wider than the cab of any other engine. It's the nose that's wider, so a wide nose is the more correct term and will get you more hits when you look it up on the web.
I just think it's cool that it has the EMD look. I wonder why GE didn't use this style glass on American wide cabs?

Too expensive to cut. The rectangular windows are cheaper to make. Notice the EMD uses rectangular windows now too. They are the same size as the GE ones so shops only have to stock one size to save money.

I figured that, though I've heard they are not the same size. I'd go with them being the same size though...
You would think that if GE is making the Canadian version anyway why modify the design for American railroads. It would seem to me to be cheaper to make one design for both, same procedures for assembply and same inventory of parts.
