Building The CMMR

Weird. I see other photos on the forum with no problem. I can see the photos on TapTalk, but not here. I must not be holding my mouth right.

That could be the problem. Just checked TapTalk with my phone and the photos are there. Leave it to Google.

I deleted Google Chrome. I had a problem with it automatically loading itself about every two minutes. There were no bugs in the computer.

Hey Gary,

I did see them on Chrome, VERY nice parking lot and HUGE.
I'm also building a fence and using the same technique, but I'm using piano wire .032" or 20 gauge and I'll be using Arduino to activate the gates (if I ever learn how to).

90 posts, 185 cross members and 370 solder joints later the chain link fencing for the Distribution Facility is done and installed. Thank God for Wisers and Pepsi! For right now I am going to leave the "barbed wire" off of the top. I have seen a few attempts at this that seem to make the fencing look worse instead of better.

I also put down the base ground cover prior to installing the fencing, so there is actually some green on the layout now. I still need to add some bumpers and some workers as well as a few other detail parts but for all intents and purposes the Distribution Facility is done.

Gary - That is one realistic looking run of fencing, man. Very nice, very realistic. Does two things to me: inspires me and depresses me 'cause I could never produce something that nice :). A very nice investment of all the time it took.

Thanks Johnny. I am pretty happy with it. It's one of those things that if you take some time to set up properly it goes pretty smoothly. I also worked on it a little bit here and there so that I didn't get sick of it.

You sure did a nice job on the fencing. That's a great scene you have there. We have a facility similar to that just out of Butte, MT at the Port of Montana.

I have been here. You captured the facility very well.

Keep the photos coming. Thumb up.gif

Thanks Chet. We also have a facility here in Winnipeg. That is what I loosely based mine on.

Haven't updated this thread in a while. Things have progressed pretty well this winter. With the exception of adding a few more trees I have completed the two modules at the south end of the layout. I'm kind of burnt out so with the exception of a few small projects I think that will be it until next winter.

Here's the Shops & Maintenance Facility.

Gary - I thought that I posted a comment two weeks ago, but I don't see it. You have done an excellent job both modeling and photographing your progress. I have the same grain elevator, but I like your placement better than mine!:(

I haven't updated this thread forever, so here are a few new pictures.

Starting off is my vintage Walthers Dairy Queen.
