I'm looking for pic's or drawing's of how the piping, brake lines, air lines and brake rigging is set up under a standard 50' box car.
I know there are a lot of differant type's and no standard layout. What i'm looking for is how everything is conected so i can make it look right.
I want to take my model building to the next level. I have all the parts for the next project except the brake lines and rigging.
Check out the Kalmbach site at
http://kalmbachcatalog.stores.yahoo.net/12450.html for "The Model Railroader's Guide to Freight Cars". It's an excellent reference that covers just about every part of freight car details including brake rigging. If you want to get serious about detailing, you need this book.
Thank You UP2CSX
I remembered I had Mainline Modeler's freight car books 1-3 and there are some nice drawing's that show the linkage and piping for the brake system.
There are drawing's for several type's of car's and brake system's.
Sometime's it take's someone to jog your memory about what you have. i have collected so many magazine's and book's on railroading I forget what I have.
Thank You again.
No problem. I do the same thing. Before I left California, I donated about 300 railroad and railroad modeler books to the local library. I would often forget I already had a copy of book and buy another one when I saw it on sale. I think that's part of the reason I ended up with 300 books.
