I was thinking about ordering the C30-7 from Broadway Lmtd
http://factorydirecttrains.com/blue...livra&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=blueline5 and wanted to see if anyone had anything they could tell me about this engine. seems like a good deal and I would also get the decoder but install myself. Would installing a decoder be something I can do without much problems? I was going to order the TCS MC2P decoder with it and do the install.
Thanks for any comments.

Hi Dave,
FDT had four of these NW locos left at the Springfield, Mass show. If was working or have made a decision to retire I would have bought all four. I’m in between right now so I’m not buying much. I thought it was a good deal $89.00 with sound. I would have replaced NW with Penn Central.
I like Lenz silver decoders the best. They’ve given me no trouble and seem to perform the best. I here there’s some problem in getting the sound and installed decoder in sink with each other in the blueline series. I think that most likely will happen to a new be as far as decoders go. I don’t own any bluelines so some one else will have to answer that question.

thanks for the comments George.
As George said, the blueline series can be tricky to get the built in sound decoder and the add on function decoder in sink with each other. I found the easiest way is to do them separately. Get the sound decoder set, then do the function decoder in another non blueline loco then install it in the blueline loco. If you do a search you should find a thread that gives you step by step instructions on doing it. Instructions are also on the BLI site but you have to sort of dig for them.
