PCM has the big boy with sound and DCC for $750. (PCM-573 UP Big Boy 4-8-8-4, 4002, 1941, after cooler, with LokSound/DC/DCC, HO)

They also have this: (PCM-580 UP Big Boy 4-8-8-4, 4003, 1941, after cooler, DC / No Sound. (DCC & Sound Upgradeable), HO) for $650. Apperently this one has no sound or DCC but upgradable.

But there is this: (BLI-5080 UP Big Boy 4-8-8-4, 4004, 1941, after cooler, DC Sound/DCC Ready, HO) the blue line version of the same locomotive with sound but no DCC for $427. What is the difference between the BLI for $427and the PCM-580 for $650? Is there a qualiy difference? I thought they were all the same basic locomotive with different options. Could it just be that the BLI version can't be upgraded to the PCM specs?

Difference? BLI is hacking away at sound prices with the BlueLine units. Its the same unit as the PCM ones (However, NOT the same as the PCM Brass one, wich is a good $1000+ investment). The BlueLine has sound/DC, the PCM's either DCC/Sound or DC/no sound.

Thanks that clears things up. I tried to get that out of Broadway but couldn't get a straight answer. FDT has the blueline version for $300 which is better than $427. I guess I don't need fancy sound.
