I have a question about this item. I am building my first layout and am new to this. Does this item have everything needed to run a dcc layout, and all I have to do is connect the control to the track for it to work? Is it like just a normal DC power pack you just plug it up and go? Thanks!
Hello Necrosaro420. I used one of those systems for 2 years before I upgraded to a Digitrax Zephyr. I still have the old EZ-Command packed away in case I should need it again. In answer to your question, the EZ-Command has everything it needs to run a DCC decoder equipped loco. It can run a regular DC loco on address 10 but the loco will make a shrill shrieking noise as long as it's on the powered track. To use the system all you have to do is make sure everything is connected properly, connect it to the track and turn it on. With the EZ-Command you set the control address of the loco to any address from 1 to 9, set the locos direction and turn it's lights on and off as well as control it's speed and that's it. If you want to make any control changes to the loco besides address and direction you have to find someone with a system that can program CV's.
Just like the Bachmann power pack. If you're using EZ-Track plug the phono type jack into the EZ-Command and the flat black track connector plug to the track. If the loco runs backward on forward just unplug the flat connector, flip it over and plug it back in. For other types of track use the connector wire with terminal connectors or bare wire ends.
Got it today and works good, though I dont have a dcc engine yet since im new to the hobby. Though now my engine has a high pitch sound coming out of it with this unit though
This is page two of a thread where a similar problem was mentioned, regarding the Bachmann EZ Command system. http://www.modelrailroadforums.com/...ighlight=Bachmann+Command+engine+noise&page=2
What engine do you have? If you don't feel up to the task of installing a decoder, there are probably people on this board who would do so for a nominal fee.

Almost any DC loco is going to make that kind of sound on a DCC powered track. Some are loader than others. I have a couple that will set your teeth on edge and one that's almost a whisper. I also have one I run when I want to irritate the neighbors dog. I can't hear it very well but it drives him nuts.

and @flyboy, I really have no clue, im new to the hobby and this one was in one of the store bought sets ive had for 10 years, its a cheapo one. Not buying anything good until I get more of my layout built up
