I have just purchased, at a yard sale for $10.00 a Bachmann Spectrum EMD SD45 Diesel.
Looks new, still in the box, includes guard rail, never installed, E-Z MATE couplers never installed, several other little plastic bits never installed.
All the bits are still in original plastic bags.
Also got a few freight cars, total expenditure $21.00
What have I got??
Did I get a deal???

Yeppers.....I'm not sure when the SD45 was built, but some of the early Spectrums required you to split the frame to install DCC. But if it says DCC ready on the box you are good to go.

Also some of the early Spectrums were a tad noisy, Think of it this way, you won't have to install sound.

Got a bridge for sale round your parts?

For $10 you got a deal.....the Bachmann's aren't the best out there, but I have 3 of them. They all run nice, but one is noticably noisier.....lots of gear growl. The other problem I had was mine came with Rapidos, and the recommended conversion didn't work. The trucks would hit on the coupler box. I ended up filling the original coupler pockets in and drilling new screw holes a little farther out to get the clearance I needed. Sounds like you have the factory EZ-mates which should work fine. Bacmanns actually come with more detail parts, like cut levers and sunshades, than a lot of other brands.

If it is noisy, you can put in athearn running gear, I did that to a few for a couple customers of my business. $10 is a great deal. Mike
