RE:EZ track

Should I try and pry it apart with a wooden spatula or something?
The pulling firmly seems to get it only so far, and the wiggling is when it breaks.
Are the other brands less prone to this issue?

It is important to wiggle side to side, up and down will break it.

I am not fond of EZ track, but I have had very little trouble with the HO track when pulling it apart.
 
You sure this is Bachmann track and not Life-Like? I've never had a problem getting the Bachmann track apart with a few wiggles but the Life-Life track in really bad about breaking off the the plastic tabs.
