As the subject states will a -2 shell work with the gp38 frame. Atlas shows different part #s thats why im asking, but from looking at pictures there isnt much of a differance in the frames unless there is a length issue.
i dont have -2 shell to try thats why im asking.
If ya know or even anyone has the stuff and can see if it fits id appreciate it.
thanks Mike
The prototype is the same frame, though that does not go to say the Atlas GP38/40 chassis will fit the Trainman GP38-2...

yeah thats why im hopen somone here might know the answer. I have the gp38 chassis and found someone who has a few complete gp38-2 shells. Ive had no luck finding complete gp38 shells unless i order them part by part.
Yes, it fits right on. The frame is the same, as are the mechanicals between the GP38/40 and the Trainman GP38-2.

Thats some great news...
Hi to all...
I have a 'first generation' Atlas (Roco or Con-Cor?) GP38 with a Roco 'fat can' motor and a NCE T1 DCC decoder. It is painted CP 3017, with the 'small pac-man' scheme. Obviously not a Kato...I got it from my friend in exchange for some scenery help, but I digress...
At any rate, this loco has an Athearn GP38-2 shell, with a bit of aftermarket detailing and weathering. I am not sure what mods he had to do to either the frame or the shell for the conversion. It's a great looking loco, which needs a bit of lube and TLC...The Athearn shell looks pretty nice, for the level of detailing versus price.
Just my random thoughts...
Regards...Ken.
