Hi guys,

In case you Amtrak Fans dont already know, Walthers has landed another exclusive deal from Athearn on the HO Scale P-42 Amtrak Diesel Locomotives. I guess these have had rights to re-run these locomotives each season producing 2 different road numbers each time. These are currently listed as TBA for in stock date but should be due sometime in the next couple months. Ive been told that these go extremely fast, and that there is usually a sell out on them before there even released. Im going to go ahead and order a few of them, and if anyone else would like one or both road numbers and would like to order them through me, send me a PM and ill let you know on the pricing of them.

They're custom runs, Walthers has exclusive rights to the Phase IV/IVb schemes.

One of these times I'll buy some of those P42's...

Looks like a nice model but am I the only one that thinks a P-42 looks like a B unit that got a cab put in as an afterthought? :)

LOL Jim i was kinda thinking along those same lines, they look kinda funky, but cool in a way too :D

BTW, welcome back Jim, was beginning to wonder what happened to you, havent seen you on the forums for a few days now lol

I think you mean Phase V. Athearn sells P42's in Phase IV. These Walthers units are painted in Phase V, and that I believe, is what Walthers has exclusive rights to (Phase IVb has only been applied to coaches, but I would imagine Walthers also has the rights to that one as well...).

Personally, I think Amtrak's Phase IV scheme was the classiest, it's unfortunate that they did away with it before enough equipment was painted for it to appear on entire trains. The Phase V wave just looks weird, mudmissiles are too angular for sweeping curves like that.

Josh, you have to stop by the coffee shop to find out what's happening. I was in the Bahamas the last 8 days. Yuck! At any rate, the P-42 is kind of cool looking in an ugly sort of way. :)

Walthers only owns the rights for the locomotives. Bachmann makes Phase IVb amfleets (Silver Series)

Correct, I dunno what I was thinking when I posted, lol.

Anyone else want to pre-order these? I have been told they will be released sometime in October 2009, and that there are already alot of people with orders in on these. They could very well sell out before there even released again, so now is your chance to get em while you can if you want em :D

PM me if interested

Walthers has the right to the new logo period, for both rolling stock and locomotives. Bachman has rights to the Acela logo.

Bachmann's Phase IVb amfleets have no mention of Walthers on the box.

Sir, I do not see any bachmann Amfleet i cars with the new logo. I do see the Phase IV and the Lava Lamp Acela Regionals, but not the IVb cars that have the new logo. they have a car they CALL a IVb, but it is not a IVb Car.. No new logo.

I won't be going back to the LHS for a while, but what I can tell you is that Bachmann is using a generic photo on their website. When they say Phase IVb, they aren't lying. They have to logo on them. I will try my best to find you a picture, but even if I do go to the LHS, I'm not going to buy a car just to take pictures to show you.

Here you go:

I know it says Phase V. I think thats what Bachmann calls it. The Acela scheme they simply call the Acela scheme.
