Athearn HO RTR SD40-2 headlights

I have a Athearn RTR SD40-2 that has burned out headlights. Looking for suggestions on what to replace them with. I would like something that will last awhile, possibly a LED? I have tried to search on-line but there are a lot of different choices and I am not sure what size I actually need. Appreciate anybody's help and suggestions!!!
 
I think most people use "Grain of Rice/Sand" LED's for their engine head lights, although I am sure that others will have more specific thoughts. Have you tried the Athearn site (parts section) to see if they have replacement lights for your specific loco?
 
If you want to maintain the bulbs, go with Miniatronic brand - they will last much longer than the Athearn versions. If you want to convert to LEDs, you are going to have to do some modifications to the factory light board. It has regulators on it for driving the 1.5 volt bulbs. White LEDs require about 3.4 volts to operate and will not drive directly from the Athearn board.
