I presently have three U33B Athearns engines and they run awesome and I like the paint job I gave them and got to thinking does Athearn sell the undecorated shells. So I can just do up three different road schemes, pop off the old shell and put on the new one. So I got to hunting for them on their website I found that they do, however, you can't buy from them for some reason. I continued my search around the enternet and found nothing. I called my hobby shop dealer to see if he could order them. He said yes but couldn't guarantee he could get them. So if this is the case, does anyone know where I can look? I looked at ebay and there wasn't anything there that i wanted. Thanks

Thanks I like that site, a lot of Christmas gifts came from there. They have a lot of stuff that is out of stock and I never comes in. I will try contacting Horizon and athearn themselves. My hobbyshop guy suggested I do the same even though he didn't have a status for me if he could the the shells or not.

I sent Athearn an email and it was no dice. Their reply was they stopped production on the U33B engine ten years ago, real nice. Also would be nice if they updated their site so people like me that want something wont get their hopes up. Seems like i always get myself interested in things that are hard to come by. Oh well.

Our local hobby shop has a consignment bin; yours might also. Athearn locos show up on occasion.

Also, I have a spare U33B (painted GN), if you want to get another whole engine. For sale @ reasonable price, or trade for some things. If you're interested, contact me at doswald2 at rochester dot rr dot com.

I agree, these run well. I have a fleet of two Bs and one C, painted for my freelance road.
