I was down to Cheyenne Wells Colroado along one of the UP lines
and I noticed this old Green locomotive sitting at the Cargil Elevator
Well I didnt know and still dont know much about what they are.
I went back one day with my Camera and started asking them about it.
They use it to load hoppers there but its a Low Hood GP-9

Nice looking old Phase 3 GP9....I like the paint scheme. You still find quite a few of them switching cars or pulling freight on short line RR's. They are actually in fairly high demand for certain jobs, because noone makes any engines like these anymore. So despite the fact they're 50+ years old , RR's keep rebuilding them.

That engine has about the biggest greenhouse window I've ever seen. It either gets really cold in that part of Colorado or it came for the Great White North somewhere. :)

Yep and not to mention that the wind blows really hard in the winter there too. We dont have trees to stop the wind here and speeds reach 70 mph often
