anyone know if any company makes H.O. scale Chevy Silverado's/GMC Sierra's (newer, like 06-07), and newer (06-07) Chevy Impala's/Monte Carlo's/Pontiac Grand Prix's?

Maybe I'm just not looking in the right place....

I really wish that someone would make those models but they are just not available. The most recent pickup truck available today is the 2008 Riverpoint F350 Pickups.

All is not lost. Atlas is coming out with a 2007 Jeep Wrangler and a fairly new Ford F-150 - looks like an 05-07. Malibu has just released their 07 Land Rover and Busch has a newer Blazer that looks like all of them since about 02. Boley has crew cab Sierra's in their emergency equipment line. Plus, you can pick up a Trabant station wagon from Herpa if you want something really unique on your layout. :)

I SWEAR I saw a semi-HO scale Silverado, new style, on 1-87vehicles.org, but I cannot find it for the life of me. Maybe I was imagining it.

I heard GM won't let model makers make HO scale newer vehicles.Send a suggestion to GM about that.I just sent a comment in to GM about this discussion.

I heard that too, but Ricko has a Cadillac ESV, which kind of ruins that plot.

Oh! they'll allow it, but for a price. Everything is copyright now days just like the decal companies have to get a license to to make RR decals. I guess if the car sales are down then they may as well make a few $$ from the designs. ;)

On the forum "across the street", there was a thread where somebody (Bill Cawthon, perhaps?) said that GM stopped licensing all vehicles whose scale-model lengths would measure shorter than 2.5 inches, because their lawyers convinced them they'd be risking a class-action lawsuit if some toddler decided to eat one of them for dessert...!

Can't see that happening, allthough you never know with US lawyers! ;)
If anyone would be liable, you'd think it would be the manufacturer.
Think of the money you could make with all of the N or Z -scale cars!

I totally agree! But [at least in the US] it's SOP for plaintiffs' attorneys to go after the entity with the deepest pockets. And GM would obviously appear to have a larger bank account than some small 'toy' manufacturer. Juries are more likely to award larger damages ("They're a huge corporation, they can afford it")

Well like anywhere the lawyers can't lose, even if they lose the case. They get their piece of the action either way. I guess it would depend on the wording of the license to use the design on a model, and a design is just that, the physical size of the model would be at the discretion of the model maker and included in the wording of the license. Keep in mind the copyright design is for a full sized car, what is granted to the model maker in the license is the right to make a reduced size model (image). IMHO even a novice lawyer just out of law school should be able to defend the design owner from the sharks. There's more to this than what is being published.

What's the difference between an HO scale GM and non-GM vehicle like Mecedes,Ford,Chrysler?Toddlers will swallow them, too.
An excellent question, there are lots of other things toddlers can swallow and no one seems to be concerned about those. It's the parents or caretakers responsibility to keep small things from going into the toddlers mouths, not GM's nor the model manufacturer's
Sheesh! if I were the judge I'd award both the toddler and the lawyers a package of ex-lax each, should do the trick.

Toddlers can swallow parts off of even G scale trains also.
