Has anyone had problems adding the weights to these cars? I bought a 5700 series AAR boxcar kit a while back and just got around to building it, but there is no way to anchor the weight to the car floor. Any suggestions beside using super glue? thanks - Jeff
PS. I can post pics if you would like
the only accurail kits i have are cylindrical hopper ones and the weights sit right on the bottom almost as if they were designed to fit there like a peice of a puzzle
Some rubber cement or white glue works fine. You're right, there's no anchoring point for the weights. They will hold by friction but I prefer to glue them down.

Double sided tape works good too....not the clear tape but the heavy duty white tape made by 3M.
I've glued weights or additional weights as needed for a long time. A buddy gave me about 3 lbs of old printer's type spacers. They vary from around .015" to .125" thick and are about 3/4 inch wide and 5 inches long. Cuts easily with a razor saw into smaller pieces and I use gap filling CA, rubber cement, or silicone sealer to stick them in place. For box cars and other enclosed cars I glue a piece inside on the floor over each truck. For flat cars I try to work them into whatever I load on them.
I have had good luck using very small amounts of Walther's Goo. You need to be careful to use the smallest amount necessary but it will hold one it cures.
Hmmm, I'd have to try that out!
Walthers Goo, or Barge Cement, stays rubbery.
