A very simple switching layout

Hello Happy Members !
I started to build a very simple switching layout (10" x 5' 7"). I'll run a short diesel switcher and only 40' cars. I use Trix C track (made in Germany). This track looks like the Bachmann "E-Z track" but it's absolutely not the same product. All your comments will be greatly appreciated. A few pics:

OK -- Looks like a GE 70 tonner and some 40 foot cars. Very nice start!
Good looking trackwork too!

I built a new benchwork (more colorful - hope so !) and a little bigger than the first one. Dimensions: 1' x 6'.

I've been playing around with switching layout ideas myself lately, too.

It would definitely add more variety to your operations. Will you be adding scenery?

Not yet.
I just ordered another turnout and a few pieces of track. The new siding is on its way !

Christian, I agree that a second siding will offer a bit more potential to the layout. You are off to a good start.

I have to apologize ... this is not North American track but European track (code 83). But I'm very pleased with the result so far.

Knowing nothing about the European track, do you not need (or already have) insulated joiners between the facing crossover turnouts? What industries are you planning to serve? Looks like a lot of possibilities. Have fun! Stay well and safe!

No big difference between these two kind of track, just the ties/sleepers spacing I guess. I have no need for insulated joiners because I only run one diesel at a time. But It's a good idea. I keep it in mind.
