well, I've got a question regarding tank cars. A friend of mine used to work at a farm supply-type place, unloading rail cars (liquid and solid fertilizer, etc) and that's where I first met him, before we found out his fiancee and my wife work at the same place. I drove truck for a company that had several tankers that hauled 28% and 32% liquid fertilizer out of this place. The local CN crew would drop off a couple tank cars, and him and another guy would shunt the rail cars down with a loader when one was emptied. Anyway, he quit that place about 5 months ago, and since I'm planning a layout, I joking told him I was going to model where he worked as a joke since he didn't like working there very much. I was browsing around, and I found a 3 lift axle tanker like I used to pull from Herpa through Walthers:

I also found, through Herpa, a daycab CH mack like the one I drove: (undecorated, so I can paint it black like mine was)

one of the final touches, was, again, through herpa, I found a 379 Peterbilt like my friends boss owned that was always parked on the property:

I'm pretty sure I can find a storage tank fairly close to the one they had, plus I'm pretty sure I can kitbash the small building. My main question is, where would I be able to find a rail tank close to the type that would haul liquid fertilizer? some that looks close to this:

Well then, thats a large question, with a small picture!

Atlas, and Walthers both make some nice tank cars. I'm thinking you're looking somewhere in the range of 23500gal car.

There's tons of sizes however.

i was looking at atlas' site and walthers. Atlas has a 11,000 gal tank car, but not a modern one. Are there any 11000 or in that general area sized tank cars? Im going to do the NJT aqua train used for the fall and leaves on teh tracks.

there's a 16,000 gallon offered by walthers. I may look at that one. I will also try and zoom into the picture of the NJT car too see if it say's cap. 10,8something or 18, 8 something. It's kinda blurry by it.

I just got 5 20500 Gallon tankers from ebay. they were all atlas ones. very nice looking units btw. I got a supprise as one is of Monfort of Greeley Colorado. most are GATX cars.
