It happened. I got bored with my circular layout before I ever got to scenery. Part of it is that it's boring, part of it is that I don't have the space for the layout I want.

So here is my current plan. I want to build a 4' by 18" diorama/shelf layout. The point would be a good looking method to display my locos and cars, and a place to take photographs. I would like to model a mainline run in a forrested/hilly area, not interested in yards, but I would like to be able to run an engine and a few cars back and forth (perhaps to a single industry).

Any track plans out there that would fit my bill? Any suggestions on what this should look like? A mainline with a siding and a spur to an industry maybe?

Thanks in advance for any assistance!

Forgot to add, N scale, modern era. Reinforced foam subsurface, cork roadbed, flextrack of some sort (not too impressed with my experience with Peco).

Welcome back! I didn't even get finished with all the track before I said to heck with the circle. I've since started a shelf layout in my garage. I've only started on the first of three modules and already I have a large grain facility that will need cars spotted and a storage track to store off lease equipment. The switching capabilities and call outs are already looking good.

Sorry, I don't have any track plans for you. I'm still looking for plans for my second module. Good luck in the hunt and the building!

I know this link has been posted here before but it has helped me with some of the areas on my layout. Lots of small layouts and suggestions here....
