Holy Crummies!

Doc & Wyatt came back with the 3rd transfer caboose today! They grabbed switcher SW9/1200 UP #1833 and brought in the "new" MP-UP MOW Green MP #7502. The guys were glad to see the generator hook-up was newly installed too! As they grabbed the transfer caboose they also got the A&SAB 40' box car that came in on the south main line as well. After quick inspection of the box car it was decided that they would switch it over to the wheel shop and replace all the wheels then she'll be good for service. Here are a few photo ops they guys gathered....

So the boss says enough goofing around we have work to do.....we shall check in later for a progress update after a few hours of work tonight.

Peace

So today I made some minor progress but really it was time consuming with leveling and checking for vertical plumb-level as well. Placement on the studs etc. I prevailed and got the rest of the standards up today. I also added the brackets and laid the shelves up. I have test fitted the shelves by the window after measuring and cutting a few time to get a snug fit. Later I painted those 2 boards/shelves which will go up tomorrow. I will begin the LEDs tomorrow and hope to get 50% done. I am kinda on the fence on the shelving along the wall where the window is. I have been thinking I may run a shelf across the window...not sure yet hmmmm.... 🤔

After the LEDs go up next is the valance which will go quickly. I will then run the 2nd shelving that will go up above the window frame and door frame.

So here are some humble pics of the progress. Nothing fancy.

I bought 2 of these little adjustable mechanic's stool/scooter. Love it! Works well in the train room and I have one in my shop/garage too. I bought them from Harbor Freight when they ran a crazy sale in January at 19 bucks plus I used my 20% off and paid less. So got the for 16 each plus tax.

I got the shelves up by the windows after painting them. Yup still on the fence on whether I should change it out and run a long piece across the window. I will mull it over a couple of days. I will get the LEDs up later I had few things I had to attend to today besides the layout unfortunately.
As mentioned before after the LEDs go up.... next is the valance which will go quickly. I will then run the 2nd shelving that will go up above the window frame and door frame.

Well it's been a busy week for Doc & Wyatt! A whole slew of box cars came in on a big purchase order for the JRs UPPR company. Management keeps on running into deals where other RR shops are offloading their some of their inventory. The used market has been good for us!

All of the cars were brought in on the north line inbound. First string of cars that came are remnants of the o'l Rock Island. All 50 footers and in good shape. Some cars will be sent to the wheel shop for new sets of wheels and then on to the back shop to replace some couplers.

So Doc took out the RI #472 and #485 both RS-2s Alcos and they are an awesome pair in the route of the Rocket scheme. Burbling down the track the duo snatched up the 5 new to them cars.

NOTE: I am not certain of the make of these cars although I think 2 of them are Walthers and the rest are Accurail and one is Roundhouse for sure, the waffle sided one.

Then later Doc switched in 2 cars and added them into the consist as they need some work too. The CNW #718103 was purchased earlier last month. The W&OV #34 has been in service for some time now and seen a lot of miles.

Wyatt picked up another manifest order that came in earlier this week. Few High Cubes......they will need some attention. The boys in the shop will be busy this weekend making the upgrades. These also came in on the north line. Wyatt took out the GP 30 UP #868 to snatch these 4 cars.

NOTE these were all old BB Athearns. I really like the SP car as it has the operable doors. I am not a fan of plugged doors but I got these for 5 bucks each.

Word is management has bought a large order of used condition of rolling stock. Wyatt and Doc are on alert for inbound manifests on both the north and south lines. A little buzz about some new fangle not so good looking switcher too. It's likely gonna be a yard goat for sure. NREs are not so reliable supposedly in the current RR world but JR's UPPR is gonna work this out and make do. The acquisition was in line with the budget so. It should arrive very soon. Stay tuned.

Wyatt hustled in the new GP 35 Western Pacific (DCC & Sound) and brought in the new tank cars for JR's Fuels. These will get some miles!
The GP 35 is a 1st for JR's UPRR and for a having a GP 35 or a WP unit of any kind on the roster and it is welcomed as the unofficial heritage unit. The guys seem to really like the unit.

Word has it that management acquired another locomotive. This unit is going to be assigned to the ballast train and for the MOW work train. New scheme but an oldie unit..... a dash 8 with "Baby Wings" scheme....coming soon.

Wyatt and Doc have their work cut out with a whole new freight manifest coming in. Whew! 89 "new" cars of all kinds! Crazy deals that management has run into! A huge order for the MOW is coming.....new rails......miles and miles of it the gang will be hard at work the next couple of months!

As time permits we will share some photos of the new cars AFTER they have received the shop treatment and inspections for couplers and new wheel sets!

Management is looking for 2 more locomotives.....one GB&W Alco which will bring in all of the north bound traffic with WC and MT&W. The second unit is a new modern SD70 ACE Demonstrator Caterpillar scheme for the CAT dealership!

Until then ya'll take it easy! Peace!

89 huh! I saw most over on the RPO pages, you're amassing quite a stable there.

Eventually I will stop buying the rolling stock as obviously I can never have them all on this layout I am currently building but when I do the next layout I will be able too. Either way it's a bit of an addiction. ;) I am at least justifying them for the industries I will be using them for on the current layout. I may not have as many industries as you have but the future layout will. I also find that I have been purging cars I will never use as well so I am selling stuff off as well as I am purchasing. Although the selling isn't as frequent as the buying :p🤪😂 I am also recording all of my purchases and using the program I mentioned many times on this forum. I also use the IndMan, WayBills along with MiTrains which all inter connects. IndMan provides you with 100s to thousands industries and services or you can make your own. Then of course WayBills creates the cards and manifest for switching operation or op sessions etc. MiTrains inventories all rolling stock revenue or non-revenue, motive power in-service or not. It keeps track of where everything is and what the status is based upon your input.
