A new beginning...JRs UPRR.

Well well well......

Lookeee here!

There was a post #230 back in Nov 16th 2021 that had this mention of a tib bit news.....

"Wait until you see what shows up next. The buzz and scuttle butt now is there are some serious iron coming on the high rail in the form of STEAM! JR's UPPR management decided to look at getting a few stars for the steam program to run some excursions. Stay tuned."

Could it be? Has it happened? Rails are thundering like no other! There's a low moan of a whistle off in the distance, as if though someone has awoken a sleeping giant of a beast! The sound is like no other. It is a strange mellow moan but with strong distinction. The guys around the yards a bustling around nervously not knowing what is coming. Management has been "mum" about what is about to take place. Wyatt and Doc are scratching their heads and are wondering..... the sounds off in the distances are growing stronger at each pulsating moment. It's a tingling that causes all of the personel and employees to stop what they are doing and pause. Even the locals are wondering what the heck going on? They are all listening and literally feeling something coming from the ground through their feet. Something great is about to happen......

Soon all will see......stay tuned......

See we have another literary author in the making, can't wait for the next chapter in this live steam saga.

More chattering going on the radio dispatcher's office! Something is happening and it's creating quite a stir. The thundering and moaning whistle has ceased at the moment with a new sound purring in. Wyatt and Doc were sent out by the boss to roll out UP/SP Heritage unit #1996 and the SP Black Widow #750 for some reason that was not shared to the rest of the gang. The scuttle butt is a new unit has arrived earlier than management expected. Ladies and Gents, feast your eyes on this beaut of a loco the SP Daylight unit #600. She is a GE AC6000. Wow she is bringing in a SP business car to boot! Drool over this gang! This is a welcomed unit to have in the JR's UPRR Heritage fleet! Quite nice!

Enjoy the humble photo shoot!

Looks like some high end HO locomotives there.

I recently got myself a Mehano steam HO 2 6 0 that is not that high end perhaps but it is very nice for how affordable it was... $47!

I had been ignoring my HO stuff for awhile and most of the time it was put away in drawers. I feel proud to have put together a multi-scale layout which includes an HO oval where it always is ready to run for me now.

HO is underrated because while it is not as hefty and large as O, it is very cheap to put metal wheels on all the rolling stock which makes it feel much more hefty albeit at the cost of power, but with that ergonomic improvement, HO is a flat-out bargain when it comes to affordability in getting some nice things in this scale.

These full size diesels would be insane to get in O gauge as far as price.

Things have been quite busy in the management office. Lots of acquisitions of rolling stock/cars and even a dozen or more of power new and used.

JR's UPPR is growing it's roster more ways than one. With the recent turn of events management has not had time to do a full report or an update. Although now with a fleeting moment we shall bring a few shots. Wyatt and Doc had Billy Bob throw up the drone to do a few shots for us. Some pictures will show "new stuff" and "old stuff". The yard is at capacity. The track gang has been on a hiring spree and it's a matter of time when we will see some work and much needed expansions.

So enjoy these random pictures. ALCO #5 was doing a little switching duty. The SD70M was pulled out for inspection. 2 of the heritage units 1989 and 1995 were out for a little attention.

Management has been barking at the employees about cleaning and organizing so that seems to be the priority at the moment.

Great drone shots and a heck of a fleet

James, do you have a Locomotive servicing facility area or one planned. With your roster of locomotives I can just envision a super facility like UP’s North Platte, NS’s Altoona or CN’s Homewood Illinois

just wondering
Yup I plan on doing a small locomotive service facility. Although it will not be to big I keep having to remind myself that this is a temporary train room. As I will be building a garage extension that will be 32x60 attached to my main 2 car garage and house. This may happen finally this coming spring or I may wait until 2024...we will see.

Well it has been a while for an update with the ongoings at JR's UPRR. So here's a little of what is going on.

Lots of acquisitions this past summer and early fall. 17 new buildings.....lots of contruction coming in the near future. New rolling stock & used rolling stock and some that got some TLC for upgrades already.... others are still in the back shop awaiting work orders and instructions. Management has cooled its spending spree and is shifting to getting the track gang and MOW guys out in full force. The shop guys will also be busy with upgrades in the wheel shop and replacing knuckles.

Today we had a string of 2 bay hoppers come in from the north bound line. Some WC cars and the like. These will be put into service immediatley after a thorough inspection. UP 3971 a SD70M brought in the cars with Wyatt at the helm.

The yards are just jammed packed at the moment but management has plans for re-organization and a extension to the newly proposed yard as well.

Unit SP 600 AC6000 one JR's Heritage Units was getting some work done with some software upgrades done by Doc. He is a wiz at that sorta thing. The locomotive was in and out briefly as Doc made short order of the work. Back on the road it goes to churn some revenue.

The boss surprised the employees with a delivery of BEER! UP 5252 GE C45ACCTE (ES44AC) was the locomotive that brought the chilly car in with Mr. Sackett at the helm. It is one of them fancy high tech cool/refrigerator cars. Yup it was ice COLD beer fo sho! This car is an Athearn Genesis Sound Car too! That generator was a humming pretty good and it would kick off now and then and start back up depending on the thermostat setting etc..... 😉 The boss had one of the company's newly refurbished caboose on the tail end of it too! This unit is also a Athearn Genesis with DCC n Sound. It was programed to the road number using the last 4 digits and consisted to the locomotive UP 5252,

Off in the short distance the south bound line brought in 'The Bay Line" local coming to pick up those 2 bay hoppers.

That's it for now more later......

Well we have had two new locomotives added to the roster recently that are finally getting some recognition in the yard....

First up is another Heritage Unit for JR's UPRR fleet but this unit like the others will be placed into service to earn revenue and on occasions be used for specials. Welcome UP 8075 Union Pacific 'Greyhound' scheme a two tone gray. This unit is a GE ES44AC. She is a beaut!

all
Gary

That is correct. Although on my layout it will be deemed as a "heritage " unit on my roster. 😁

Where you been? Haven't seen you post in a while. I hope all is well with you and family.
All is well, just got very busy with life and work. One of my old buddies got ahold of me and we were hanging out in the woods on weekends and it set me back in all of my other chores; throw in the sinus issues and I didn't feel like being online much.
