I went to Ontario, Ca. this morning for the train show, and turned in to the parking lot to find they charge $8.00 to park. No senior discount or anything. Decided, since that I'm just a few minutes from home, that they could do without my 8.00. I'll take the money I had to spend there and go to my LHS and spend it. Anyway on the trip over and back, took a few pics for the heck of it and thought I'd put some up here. A couple of pics are of a line of flat cars that I'm wondering what they haul. These have been sitting there for a while now. Other pics are from the 10 frwy at Pepper street.

quite the power lashup there in the second pic
as for the flat cars, i have no clue
nice pics of the little switchers though, hard to tell about the green one but is the yellow unit functional?

The yellow one looked as if it could be, but the green one, I don't think so.

Looks like the storage line in Colton, with all those parked units.

Thanks Paul

Yup, the pics were taken on Pepper street where it crosses over the tracks. I'm thinking that these locos were the ones all lined up further west for so long, and now they are moving them out. The little units there are in the back of the GATX facility.

That sure is the Colton storage line, wonder when the BNSF units got in there?
Paul, they were moving? Anything maybe BNSF has a hand in that?
Those locos are definitely in storage at Colton. I remember a similar line up in the recession of 1980-82. No idea why the BNSF units are there unless they are paying rent to the UP because they've run out of storage space in San Bernardino.
I'm going to guess that the half round things on the flatcars are the load. They look like penstock support beams, probably for the California aqueduct expansion project that has been put on hold due to California's financial problems. No money to use them or move them, so I suspect they are paying a per diem charge to store them.
The GATX 25 tonner is clearly out of service. I don't think the 44 tonner is in use either. They wouldn't block an in-service loco at the end of a stub track behind a line of tank cars. By the looks of the rails and the wheels on the tanks cars, it doesn't look like they've moved for a while either.
