Foolish indeed. I used to sit next to a drugstore where I couldn't be seen and watch for drivers doing just that kind of stunt. If the red lights were flashing, that would have been bad enough, but driving through with the gates coming down is evading a traffic control device. I don't know about your state but that's a big money fine in California.
Wow, such a smart driver. He broke about 4 laws in that clip.
I do that all the time in the Semi Truck.
NOT! tipical driver that lives in their own bubble
Definitely not the brightest driver out there. Nice work on the videos
Sorry, but I don't see the foolishness. The driver in the white car approached the crossing and came to a stop and looked at the approaching train. They decided to cross at the same time that the gates started coming down. It took eight seconds for the gate to come down by which time the white car was long gone. It took 32 seconds for the train to reach the crossing once the gates started down. That is more then enough time to get across.
Not everyone is a train buff. There are plenty of times where I've got more important things to do then sit and wait for the UP to get 102 coal cars out of my way.
Just my .02.
Can I set an filter to ignore to these threads? Or better yet, get yet another ban going here?
send the videos to "Cops". They love this drivel.....
Ken, I wouldn't go that far but I agree, even as a retired cop, that this is one of those situations where the driver technically broke the law but I wouldn't have cited him. I saw way worse, including driving around the gates when an 80 mph Amtrack was about 3 seconds away. Nice horn, at any rate.

Sorry, I was just offering a dissenting opinion.
