This afternoon, on the way home from a fantastic time at Rex's house, LGM and I took a few shots from the old GM&O nearby. I hope someone finds them of interest.

A little explanation is in order for these next images. This old 30 is a retired classic sitting dead on a spur with the torch probably not to far away. I never get on railroad equipment without asking permission first, but in this case there was no one to ask and I knew this was the only time we would cross paths with this distinguished old unit. Guess what? Right or wrong, I shot the cab interior. Bad, bad, bad boy! There, now I feel better...
Eric, you guys got some good shots. FYI: the yard used to be three times the size with a roundhouse and all the shop goodies when GM&O had it. When GM&O stopped operations, the modernization of 15th street took out much of it. KCS bought all the tracks and schedules and ran it for several years, but it is now ran by a subsidiary named Alabama Southern (WAMX locos) and the mainline runs over to Mississippi and there also is an Interchange with NS near the Amtrak depot, south of the T-town business district.
Now, with all the new industries that have popped up, I bet they wish the yard was the original size.

SOOOOO many things to see on the pics..
Just one question...do they use foam too as foundation for the tracks overthere? ( just jokin...but the tracks look like if they are over 150 years old..I mean so "humpy bumpy"( dunglish!)
And idem ditto like "Alcomotive"!! comparing with the first ones wich were/are as well/good too!
