I got to get out and take a few videos, and here they are.

Northbound empty coal drag, Hattiesburg, MS, with UP power--10 minutes

Southbound NS freight with UP and SP power, north of Hattiesburg, MS--1:30

Southbound IC/CN freight departing Bell Yard, Hattiesburg, MS--7:29

Northbound UP freight at Jewett, TX--2:25

The empty coal drag are cars from Gulf Power Company (GLFX) and UP power, on IC tracks in downtown Hattiesburg. I didn't count the cars, but it is the whole train, so the video is long. The conductor got out and walked because there are two diamonds there (one the NS main, one the NS yard lead), and the first one is a blind corner. I tried to zoom in enough to get some of the details on the cars, which I think are the Johnstown type. Note how the rotary coupler ends don't always match up.

The southbound NS train with UP and SP power was on the NS main north of Hattiesburg. Traffic was lighter than usual, since there was some maintenance going on in Laurel. I view the video at 360 or 480, since my computer doesn't render the 720p very well when trains are at higher speeds. I can't tell if the first flat with tanks on it are the tanks of tank cars.

The southbound IC/CN train was the first I caught on that day. It was passing through town (over the two diamonds up above in the coal drag video) and I got in front of it when it entered Bell Yard (former IC yard). He dropped off some cars and stayed there for a while. Finally, he came out of the yard onto the main, and I assume the yardmaster or trainmaster got out, and the crew arrived in a truck to take the train over. They went through about 10 minutes of pre-movement checks to the other locomotives and such. I didn't film all that. When they finally get underway, he rolls by nice and slow and this is the first video I can just about make out all the cars and reporting marks. The coal hoppers on the siding to the right are the ones in the later (above) video of the northbound coal drag.

The UP train in Jewett was a week prior. I got in front of it and set up in time to catch him. I didn't realize it until review, that the SUV ran around the gates, and that my camera has two autofocus settings. You can see that the motion of the train gets confused and is constantly trying to refocus. I can't make out the last cars, since they look like Thrall gons but smaller and shorter. This line is the Exx-IGN, Ex-MP, current UP line that connects Laredo to San Antonio, Austin, Palestine, and beyond. There is a lot of track maintenance going on that line just south of here.

Hope you enjoy the videos, now new and improved with a tripod! :)

Great vids. Remember a while back I posted asking about the single red signal under the 3 light mast on a NS line? In your NS vid with UP and SP power there is the restricting signal.

That crossing there is actually over 3 tracks, and the start of a yard for the LPG plant just to the north about a 1/2 mile.
