I know I'm new here but I am kind of curious what some of you may know. I shot this unit in July of 2009. I know its heritage, but I'm curious if any of you do. And no google searches. I want you guys to shoot from the hip
Wow that is a unique engine. I like what they did with the high short hood. What is its heritage?
Nice loco, don't know the answer but I'd love to see a shot of 8005 behind it!
I know someone's gonna say SP.
CBQ-BN-CRSX.
I seem to recall reading an article somewhere about some high hoods with small "offices" built into the short hood ....seems like it was for a Mexican RR, but I can't remember which one, or where I read the article.

there we go..I have mroe shots of it if people are interested..either way they put the windows in it for the crew to have an office. It was installed in January 1983. Its the only unit, on the BN system atleast, to be ever converted as such.

I have shots of it and about 50 other ex-BN sd40'2's that are stored with it. They all got jammed into a storage track behind a wherehouse. Some are from BN's first order in the 6300 class. Included was my 8002 that has been noselighted and BNSF'd. I have a special suprise for you that was buried in that string. Let me dig it out.
