The benchwork is done, and got some of the fascia on as well. Started moving boxes (buildings, scenery, salvage items) out of the old train room

The turntable is roughed in. There were three of these manual turntables they used to turn the locomotives around on, one in Stillwater, one in Grantsburg, and one in Taylors Falls. The same loco ran all these lines (NP 328) I will use the Taylors Falls photo to model my Grantsburg feature.

I also have 3 streams/rivers roughed in, this is the Kettle River north of Rutledge. The bridge is still there, although it is used as a trail at present, the tracks have been removed:

I will be using hydrocal and screen to create the banks, I tried to get the width and depth of bank approximate of the actual setting

Will finish up the fascia before I start doing scenery and laying track...

Fiscal update on the train room. Almost complete, following rundown includes 75' of new track.

I am really happy at the way things are panning out. Will start laying track Saturday!!!

Money left over to buy another 75' of track if necessary, hydrocal, envirotex, ground cover. Should come out on budget.

Dave Looks real good so far The only thing I would have done different and you can add it any time

Is a bump out or extension ?? for your entrance door maybe about 4 x 4 ft then the same door you have would be 4 ft away from the exterior wall so when it's open it is not in the interior space also then add a storm door so when its warm out you can open the main door and still have the storm door with a screen in it

If this makes any sense If not I can do a simple drawing

I forgot one other thing you said you ordered flex track what brand and code 100 or 83 just curious and did you order cork roadbed If not I have a bunch of the cork I could send you no charge otherwise it's going in the dumpster
Using code 100, all my rolling stock is old with cookie cutter wheels.

I am using foam road bed, I have more than enough to do the entire layout.

Thanks for the offer, however!

Talking about the doorway, will be a lift out or hinged.

There is a plan, I have been building since I was old enough to hold a hammer (60+ years)

Great deal of progress and looking good. Now might be a good time to install your backgrounds before laying track.
Right on. I will be putting up the 40' I have from the old layout Saturday.

I anticipate holding off until next summer to re-evaluate the backdrop and possibly replacing all or part of it.

I spray paint 48" wide Kraft paper to get the sky and landscape look I like. This operation has to be done outdoors.

The layout is 18" to 36" variable depth 36" high, so is easy to reach over.

I also was about to suggest an small anteroom at your entrance.
Not knowing the prevailing winds in your area I'd be concerned about a mini
hurricane going through your layout. Currently it would just get in the way.
Will not be adding anything to the exterior of the container. I will not be changing my mind about this.

Simplicity with functionality. I currently get natural light from the door and have important cross ventilation from the door transom.

Also thinking down the road, I want the ability to easily load this on a trailer for moving. When I die if before my wife, I want it to be easy for her to sell. An intact unit.

Not sure what you mean by mini hurricane and how that could happen. The door faces south and the prevailing winds are from the NW. Also, situated in a topographically protect position.
