1/87th Vehicles

How big is your layout?

24 by 38 ft. About 600 ft. of main line(2) & a yard big enough to hold about 150 freight cars. A long siding that holds 21 passenger cars. Plenty of walking space inside layout & plenty of space to add another train table 34" wide & 24ft long.

Larry:)

 Wow.......impressive. I'm jealous. :)

I just scored two 1/87 NASCAR car of tomorrow Toyota's at Target. I picked up the #20 Tony Stewart and the #18 Kyle Busch.

They had the GM crap but I wasn't about the spend my $$ on those.:D

Wow, finally, after hitting up 2 far flung wal*marts (Barstow CA & North San Bernardino), I found ONE new malibu Semi.

I still haven't had any luck finding the semis anywhere. I'd also like to find some construction equipment but, I can't see myself spending the $12+ per dozer/tractor/etc. that I have found so far. I did see a couple of SUVs at Wal*Mart yesterday in 1/87th. Porsche Cayenne and Land Rover Discovery but, I did not grab them....maybe I should have.

1/87 vech.

i live in lugoff sout carolina i have bought about 12 to 15 semias and probley 20 cars at the wal mart here check about once a week not to many model railroaders here.

My WM still has the 1st series malibu trucks, cars, sets, etc. Only thing they are selling is the Nascar vehicles. I finally got 5 of the new Semi tractors, but, there's still plenty left. I don't like the straight trucks because they look oversize for 1/87th or just on my layout because I use a lot of the Matchbox trucks. Anyway, it's nice to see some new stuff at my local Supercenter after almost 2 yrs. of the same stuff on the shelves. There's quite a few HO scale layouts in my town, but they model pre 60's & hardly any pre 60 vehicles in large quanties that anyone uses.

I picked up two of the "fresh cherries" from walmart, a Mercury bobcat on friday, and a Ford Tempo today, plus two of the "malibu" cars, a Porsche 911 and a Land Rover. I was also at TSC to pick up some grass seed and picked up one of the norscot mini construction ones, a D5 Cat dozer....

best you can do without a trip to the hobby store, eh?

Found some CATS...

I tried Wal-Mart (none), TSC (none), LHS ($12 ea.), Hobby Lobby (none), and Toys R' Us (none), and I was about to give up when I decided to stop at K-Mart on the way home today. Walked through the Die-Cast aisle and located a single Norscot D5M dozer which I decided to grab since it was on clearance for a whopping $3. Walked down the aisle a couple of feet and found...

two more D5M Dozers, two 315C L Excavators, and one 163H Motor Grader....all on clearance for $3 each so I grabbed all six of them. Don't really need all six right now but, I am sure that I can figure something out for them all eventually. :D

I just got the Reel Rides newsletter, and they stated:
New Cars

Keep an eye out at your local Wal-Mart for our newest cars:

1. Back to the Future DeLorean
2. Italian Job Mini Coopers in red and blue
3. Casino Cadillac El Dorado

Based on your recommendations, here are some of the top movies we're considering for future releases:

* Blues Brothers, Old School, Grease, Anchorman, Rain Man, Die Hard, Carlito's Way

Looks like we might finally get the Delorean & Mini Coopers!

not just you....i caught that too. in real life im thinking the excavator is way bigger. i was looking for them to say 1:87 somewhere on the package. for a buck 97 i couldnt resist.

Lately I've been finding 1/87th equipment on 1/64th low boy tractor & trailers at WM. I bought a nice long arm trackhoe about 3 weeks ago. Also, the Cat large articulating dump truck is on 1 of the 1/64th semi's.

really? no way, I'll have to check that out...any particular brand?

There's only the one type of 1/64th semi's & the brand of equipment could be Cat or JD. They are not marked & the Semi's are in a clear plastic cover on a cardboard base. I just looked at the unit & it's an ERTL w/a JD tractor.
