1/87th Vehicles

Read this thread 4 - 5 months ago and went immediately to Wally's.

I model the 50's so PT Kruizers, Camaros, Mustangs and F150's don't help me. And when I do find that occasional 55 2dr ht, and bring it home, it ain't a 1:87. I got a whole box full of cars that just don't look right setting side by side. And I am not a rivet counter by any stretch of the word.

When I go to Wally world, IF I see anything that looks like 1:87 or says 1:87 it looks like an Acura, a Jeep Cherokee or an AMC Pacer. I've stopped walking by and hoping to see something that might fit. And, I gave up Wally's as a source of hardware long, long ago.

Hope your trip to Wally's is more productive than mine have been.
Regards,
Joe

The way to get around it is this:
If you do have cars that are mismatched, you group the matched ones together and in seperate area of the layout. Unfortunately I have seen what you are talking about but from what I can see the difference is very small. But yes you can see it.

Why do you think that the 1/87th cars are not the right size? have you ever put a scale person next to a vehicle to see the size? My head use to be right at the top of a 57 Chevy when they 1st came out. Remember when the Exacta 1/87th vehicles came out? They were supposed to be a perfect match for H.O., but they were way off, especially the sports cars. I have about 20 of them that came from Hobby Shops.
The way I think & I might be wrong, but, the average person or even a rivet counter is not ever going to tell you that the WM cars are not H.O. scale.
There are way to many clubs that have these cars on them. Just look the next time U visit a train show.

Just got back from WM. The CAT 1/87 series also have a water truck. Another company called Winner's Circle is making 1/87 NASCARS. #s 9,00, 8, and 2. That's all this store had. This store didn't have the Hot Wheels 1/87, but everything else Hot Wheels made they had.

Winner's circle also makes the #99, #12, #24, #48, #44, #38, #55 and those are just the 2007 ones. They also made for the 2006 #8, #20, #24, #29, #48. I think they may have made more, but that was all I could get my greedy little paws on!

Winner's circle has a whole lot more then you see at Wal*mart, just like the older 1:72 cars, they've got hobby versions (I.E. the REAL logos)...

Anyways, why are we complaining and fighting over the scale, I thought this was a "Close enough in my eye" thread.

Picked myself up 9 more Fresh Cherries, in Barstow of all places.

So, I've got at least one of each of the 8 Fresh Cherries, now to wait for the two "coming soon" ones.

I have a question to ask of ya'll. I have the reference articles on model railroad tips:

My question to you is, should I move the Vans to the Value article, as they're no longer available? The point of creating the Value thread was to host stuff that was in stores and is no longer.

i was at Walmart yesterday and the construction vehicles by Norcot were on sale from $5.95 to $5.00. I was gonna pick some up, but I didn't have enough money. the also had the lowrider cars as well in 1:87 scale, but i didnt have enough.

Josh, the Model Railroad Tips are  I've haven't forgot about the Priemeres just been to busy. I would put the vans on the list being that the WM stores around here do not carry them:( Sometimes I find the Johnny Lighting vans at WM or KB Toys but unfortunately they are 1/64 scale:mad: I have other collections as well like the Road Champs collections that are extinct:D

Scoop!!
Johnny Lightning is supposed to come out w/a line of 1/87th vehicles some time before the end of the year. I'm going to confirm that as soon as I get in touch w/the owner of the company in Cass., Mich.

Sweet deal!

Matchbox gas truck......

I just found this matchbox truck at Wally World for 97 cents.
Going under the "good enough" theory, I thought it was worth grabbing.

HOLY CRUD KNOCKERS!

Del Prado, has 1:87 fire engines!

Some of the scales are off a bit, but heck, $20 for a full truck, or $20 for a Ricks Decals resin cab!? The 1:80 Miami Dade pumper is 1:87 according to what I see...

I was about to tell you there's a seller on eBay from the Netherlands that has them for $9.99, but it looks like you already found them

Do you have an HO scale ruler or another 1:87 vehicle you could take a picture of side-by-side with the Matchbox truck? It looks pretty nice, and if it's close enough, some A-line wheels and tires would make a huge difference.
