With all the talk with the 1:1 scale(real life lol) with high speed rail. What you and your scale politics doing for high speed rail for your passengers? With all the "talks" going on I decided to incorpate some of these talks in my designing process. Im goin to add a press conference at the LATX Facilaty. (if I spelled that right?)

its facility...lol. Or you could be like a college friend from years back and call it falicity. LOL

My high speed line would incorporate modern GE and EMD 6 axles going 110 mph or faster!!!!!

How about a New York Central Niagara S1b , a Pennsy Duplex T1, a N&W J (which has a historical record, when tested by the Pennsy, of maintaining 110 mph on its relatively modest 70" drivers), or the powerful Pennsy Q2? I have all of those available, each able to sustain speeds well in excess of 110 mph.

Selector that would be very nice I can see it now. Hold up let me get my ticket for that journey.

NYSW F45 thanks as well lol. I still get confused sometimes. It's crazy in the past my ex-girlfriends, current girlfriend and my momma said if trains could be a subject in school I would be in harvard right now. lol

I am goin to acquire the UAT turbotrain that has been tested at 170.9 m.p.h.

how fast is a high speed rail for your passengers running?
here is my plan as all the parties are in the mail

top speed for the real loco is 68 mph knowing kato she will hit 100 mph

where were these steamers tested to 110mph?

Hi. If your question is for me, the Pennsy tested the J and found it could maintain 110 mph. This from steamlocomotive.com.

The Niagara and Duplex were regularly run at speeds in excess of 100 mph on make-up when behind schedule. Trains magazine had a story back in 93 (I think it was) where a dusty T1 was pressed into service after they had been replaced by the F units. The crew had dressed and prepared for a F unit run, but were pointed to the Duplex on a ready track. The story is that on this day, having gotten behind schedule by 9 minutes by the defective F unit, the crew made up most of that 9 minutes on a 40 mile stretch. Since the Duplex was normally run at 79 mph, the only way it could make up 9 minutes over 40 miles, and still accelerate and decelerate, was if it had done upwards of 100 mph, and probably closer to 115.

I'm not aware of any test of the Q2, but I expect it could move very quickly at sustained speeds, even with 69" drivers. It had roller bearings, so it would have been safe to normal exceed track speed.

You can always buy the Bachmann Spectrum Acela Express set.

The prototype can do (and does) 150mph on straight track. The model tops out somewhere around 70. (so a remotor may be needed)

I am considering that model as well, I thinking of using it for a public relations on the LATX for high speed rail

Im still not sure but I'm seriously thinking of maintaining 170. lol but starting off thinking first baby steps of 115 with acela express. Than if it works out retro-fitting a couple of UAT's TurboTrain for 170 smph

Having been involved with the California high speed rail campaign back in 2008, one of the first trains I painted for my ad-hoc layouts were some Shinkansens in California colors. It was a big hit with the housemates.

Here's a train going in circles around the Christmas mushroom. Not sure what scale speed they got up to.

Well late in the last century I had the opportunity to speak with the engineer of this baby

Noticing the speedometer went to 150mph I had to ask. He replied that he had been to 110 with it. I didn't ask for details. In hindsight I wish I had asked.

Will you be adding this to your high speed rail on your layout

Although I have the sister of that one I won't be adding any high speed on my layout. When I rarely run a passenger train it might see 50 mph. Not enough straight track without a station to get up that kind of speed. Most of my traffic is slow long coal trains with a few freight trains which get up a little speed.
